After nearly a 20 year wait, the state of New York has finally legalized MMA. With this news, large companies like the UFC and Bellator can begin hosting events in the state. The UFC who originally booked Madison Square Garden for UFC 198 on April 23rd but had that plan shut down down by the state.

In a New York State Assembly meeting today, many were supportive of legalizing MMA, while many were still against it. However, when it hit the floor for a vote, the various districts of New York voted heavily for it 113-25.
