Canelo-Khan Rematch Clause?

When someone brings up the Canelo Alvarez vs Amir Khan fight and asks you who wins, I bet 99% of you will say Canelo without taking a breath. Canelo is favored and people are still asking the question as to why this fight is even happening. However, Golden Boy Promotions may have a different look on this fight than most fans do. The rematch clause is in the contract because of the possibility of Amir Khan winning, in which case Canelo will absolutely fight him again.

Oscar De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions stated “We put in the contract a rematch for a reason because this is a dangerous fight and obviously we wanted to make sure if Amir Khan beats Canelo we can automatically exercise our option and fight him right away. This is no walk in the park. I believe style make fights and this is a perfect example.”

This fight proves Khan is on a mission to be a global superstar and one of boxing’s greatest fighters. This fight, win or lose, will help his career in so many ways that Khan’s camp accepted right away labeling it a “no brainer.”

This fight is absolutely gaining steam as more and more people start to see a potential upset. However, most fans still aren’t buying it. Is this rematch clause that Golden Boy Promotions instilled another indication of the respect Canelo’s team has for Khan? Give us your thoughts below!
