The late great boxing champion Joe Frazier would have been 72 years old today. The Olympic Gold medalist and undisputed world heavyweight champion of the world was known for his durability, strength, punch power and all-out relentless attack on his opponent. His best known punch was his powerful left hook, which accounted for most of his knockouts!
Joe Frazier is remembered not only for his knockout wins, but for a specific fight that every boxing fan knows about; “The Thrilla In Manila.” In the third and final boxing match between Frazier and Muhammad Ali, the 15 round bout ended in Ali’s favor. However, many people rank it as the best fight to ever happen and it consisted of constant back and forth action.
Frazier was later diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011 and admitted to hospice care. He died on November 7, 2011 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With the upcoming world heavyweight title on Saturday, January 16th between reigning WBC World Heavyweight Champion and #TeamEverlast athlete Deontay Wilder and champion and Artur Szpilka of Poland, Everlast would like to recognize one of the heavyweight greats in Joe Frazier and wish him a happy birthday!
