Mannix Says Vergil Ortiz Jr Is THE BEST Prospect In Boxing…Agree or Disagree?

The word has spread and more of the masses are picking up on it…

He isn’t the flashiest one, doesn’t yap and draw buzz verbally.

Humility, in this age, is a more subtle reward, and thus, Vergil Ortiz Junior’s trek to where he is now, seen by some as THE most promising prospect in the game, has been on a slower road.

Ryan Garcia got hype and IG love, but, many think Vergil will be the one, when said and done, whose resume will be the most impressive, of all the talents who are 20, 21, thereabouts….

The jury is still scattered but more respondents are seeing the light falling this way…

Me, I don’t want to furnish a vote, go out on that particular limb right now. But I will say this…I liked what VOJ did in the ring but I liked even more what he said after he beat Antonio Orozco (28-2; age 31) at the Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie, Texas, on a Golden Boy card, and on DAZN.

“I’m going to be honest. I don’t like the way I did in the fight,” said Vergil Ortiz Jr. after. “I don’t even know how many rounds we went; that’s how into the fight I was, but the first three, four rounds, I could have done way better.”
Humility, not the route to draw that quick-hot buzz…but likely better for long term development….
“I definitely have a long way as a boxer to reach that world champion status,” he continued. “But we’re going to keep making those improvements, and we’re going to learn from this fight. I’ve been getting all these KOs. I’ve been saying that they haven’t been getting in my head, but as you can see in that first round, I got a little excited. Maybe I could have ended it, maybe not, but I had to force myself to slow down, and I’m just going to learn from this fight. Everyone knows that Grand Prairie is the grandest of all the cities in the world. We have the best people, the best work ethic, and the best kids that are going to grow up to be something one day. And I just want to set an example for each and every one of you guys, whether you’re kids, teenagers, or adults. You can do it if you put your mind to it.”
OK, hell with it, I’m on board….Because of what he was SAYING there, I’m with Mannix. Best. Prospect. In. Boxing.
I agree…
Vergil Ortiz Jr went to 14-0 in Texas, on Saturday. Some are saying he's the best prospect in boxing, right now.
