McIntyre To Khan and PBC Fighters: Come To Top Rank For The Real Money

Trainer/manager/analyst Brian McIntyre is in NYC to work, as he will be helping Crystina Poncher on the call for ESPN/Top Rank, doing the undercard bouts underneath the Vasyl Lomachenko v Jose Pedraza feature at the MSG Theater Saturday.

His ace fighter, the fighting pride of Nebraska, Terence Crawford, is also in the Big Apple, making the rounds and waiting to see if a March bout gets signed and sealed up.

Luis Collazo was rumored to be his dance partner but then a high-profile name popped up. Amir Khan might steer away from a Kell Brook fight and instead accept a fight against Craword.

Top Rank boss Bob Arum..

..sounded reasonably confident that the Brit would decide to fight the American. And McIntryre, is he also optimistic? I asked him at the Loma-Pedraza presser Thursday.

“Just waiting on them, you know we ready! I don’t know, you just don’t know, until that paperwork comes back, you know boxing. Khan has that name…(And a poor chin?) Amir Khan with the weak ass chin,” he said, chuckling.

And what else could happen in 2019 for Crawford? “One of those PBC 147 pounders, either one of the champions, I’ll take any of them, it don’t matter. If they want to come over where the real money’s at, they’ll come over and fight Bud. See what they’re paying Khan? Giving Khan five million dollars just for a ten rounder. Damn good money. (They seem loyal to Al Haymon, though). I guess that’s how they are…I don’t knock ‘em, I don’t knock ‘em.”

March 23 could well be the target date for Bud’s next.

Talk to me, friends….Will Khan sign on?

Which PBC fighter might we see Bud first fight?
